Soooo Not Happy with WalMart Right Now!

I've been couponing for a long time and printing computer coupons for years. The only problem I've had with WalMart as I mentioned in another thread, was that they won't take free item coupons that are computer printed.

Until this morning that is. Checked out, and the checker started going through my coupons. Two of them wouldn't scan. It was a $.55 one (no big deal) and a $2.00 one... (bigger deal.) The checker said she knew I bought the products, she remembered them. Called the manager over...

Bottom line, although I bought the products, the only thing they gave me was "sometimes computer printed coupons won't work for us." Grrrrr. I bought the products and the coupons were not expired... why would the customer be the one to take the hit if their machinery isn't up to par with reading bar codes?

Well that is a bummer!

Of course it doesn't sound like much at first but every little bit counts.

Sounds like they need to update some of their electronic devices!

Yes, I agree, TheVirtualTraveler... yesterday it was just $2.55, but if it's going to be a trend with them, it's going to get annoying fast.

Not to mention the people behind me in line... it was always a fast job of getting my coupons scanned and moving the line. Now with never knowing which will scan and which won't, it's going to take a lot longer.

It's soon 2014... machines not reading computer printed coupons really shouldn't be acceptable, or even an issue. Maybe at the small local places, sure...but WalMart? :-(

I wonder if it's intentional? Walmart started advertising that they now match Publix's Buy One Get One Free deals. It seems like if they keep ad matching other stores and taking online coupons, it would affect their profits, so maybe they're not updating the machines so that they can blame the register and not give the discounts.

That would certainly be one way that they could blame someone else without looking like the bad guy.

I don't know, ACSAPA... but I sure hope it's not that. :-( There is no difference printing them out instead of clipping from the Sunday paper because the manufacturers are the ones offering them... and if I understand things correctly, the stores never *lose* money with coupons because they get it back. But it stinks all the same.

The cashier didn't even know what to say because she knew I bought the products. People are NOT going to be happy if this continues.

It really is an annoyance that these things happen, I really think that this will only irritate customers. With enough customer complaints then perhaps Walmart and other supermarket chains will consider getting better coupon barcode readers.

Yes, I hope so... but it's not that it wasn't alright before, because it was. I've been using computer printed coupons at WalMart for years.

They don't take those for absolutely free items, but I never had a problem with a cents-off coupon there until recently. I hope they need a new machine and not that it's a new thing that's going to be the norm.
