Betsy Muse is a former commercial banker and insurance professional. She earned a degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She and her husband live on a plot of old farm land where she grows most of the fruits and vegetables they eat each year. They have two college-age daughters, two dogs and a cat.
Laura Slawny has written extensively for broadcast television and online endeavors. She is the creator of three Emmy-winning special shows and recipient of an Edward R. Murrow Award. During her time at the Phoenix NBC affiliate, she managed a large newsroom staff including producers, writers, editors, photojournalists, reporters, anchors and assignment editors for daily newscasts.
Brett Calhoun writes about business and investments for ConsumerFu. She is a graduate of Stanford’s MBA program and earned a BA in International Business from Howard University. Brett worked for several years on Wall Street for Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch in secondary private equity and leveraged finance, where she built a deep skill set in financial modeling, analysis and structuring. She is currently working in financial advisory, consulting for companies in West Africa that seek to raise funds and for international investors and lenders looking for bankable projects in West Africa.
Kate Ryan is a published author and mom of one. Before joining ConsumerFu she built a loyal following on her thrifty mom blog and holds an MFA from Columbia University. She works in the theater and has written a one-person show on motherhood that has been produced and is currently being performed all over the country by a recognized comedian.
